Why Does Everyone Want to Get Tall?

Hey I’m Mark, thanks for checking out my post about how to get taller- well, how I did it anyway! So, I’m a 27 year old studying in Austin. And can finally hug my girlfriend for real.I was however, at one point what you might call a shrimp… So I created this site to help other average guys achieve their ‘growing tall’ dreams too. Enjoy! And you can read more about me if you want on the About me page below.

Today I want to talk about something important…

What is the obsession with how to get tall? Why do so many guys want to know how to get tall?

Well, I can only speak from personal experience but I HAD to find a way to get tall. It had been the source of so much trouble for me. I felt like a kid when girls would bend down and hug me.

Why do you want to to know how to get tall??

Maybe it’s for the girls. I mean yeah, the ladies love that I grew taller. It’s gotten me so many repeat visitors over the past few months it’s crazy. And attracting more women is definitely one of the main reasons I decided I wanted to get taller in the first place…

But is there something more, Yeah I think there is.

Growing taller does so much for you that it would be impossible to name everything here. So I’ll try to sum it up… finding out how to get tall gives you an overall better quality life. I’ve got so much more confidence now it’s fantastic, and then there’s the feeling of pride I get whenever I go out… You’re a man, you’re strong and healthy in a society filled with an increasing number of  taller men.

But I could be wrong… what’s your thoughts on this? How will you feel when you finally do learn how to get tall?

Where do I find men to date?

You’re feeling good about yourself. You’ve been working on your image, your body and you have a brand new outlook on life. Positivity and happiness radiate off of you in waves. But wait, where are all the great guys? Shouldn’t they be ringing your doorbell and asking you out?

In the world, you have to know where to meet the guys. Beauty is worthless if none can appreciate it. Its like having the most interesting story in the world to tell, but no one to tell it to. If you’re a brand new person and ready to hit the dating scene, you have to be at the dating scene.

Too many women go to bars and clubs to meet men. Listen ladies, those are places you go to for a good time and maybe a hook up. If you’re looking for a quality man, you can’t hang out at places where people go to get drunk and rub against each other. I’m not saying that there are no good quality men at bars and clubs but even you have to admit that separating a good guy from the jerks at a club is horribly difficult and in a place where you can’t even hold proper conversation, it is nigh impossible.

But fret not, there are many better places you can meet and interact with men. First off, take a look at what affiliations you have. Are you involved in some sort of social club? You should have some sort of social activity that allows you to meet people.

Most women don’t realize that the best place to meet men is at a place where they carry out their hobbies. Any recreational class offers an opportunity to meet men who are interested in the same things you are. This gives you the chance to meet a partner who shares the same passions you do and will make forging a relationship that much easier.

Another place you can go to meet men is church. But be warned! Just because he is a man of Christ doesn’t mean he is not a man. Men at church all have human personalities like any men elsewhere. Don’t assume that he is a ‘good’ man from the outset. Spend the time to get to know him and learn what it is that makes him who he is. Don’t jump into a relationship too fast! It will only lead to misunderstanding and hurt. The upside of church is that there are men who go there to look for a partner and are more likely to be looking for women of quality.

Libraries are another great place to meet men. Though most men you meet there will be more studious, it does not mean they are not adventurous or outgoing. Many fine men enjoy works of literature and can be found perusing books at libraries. Take a chance and don’t be afraid to approach a man and strike up a conversation.

Last but not least, ask your friends! Dating a friend of a friend is advantageous due to the fact that you can know more about him just by asking your friends. Also your friends will have background information and a knowledge base of their likes, dislikes and a general idea of how they are. A lot of your work is done for you and will make it easier for you to move things forward. Just remember that after the initial phase is over, you’re going to have to put in the work to figure him out. No one likes to be the one in the middle.

If you are really lost or your social life is for some reason not going very well, try online dating. It will take more wading through to find a decent guy but the advantage there is you have more time to pick and choose and usually, all their information is displayed on their profiles so it’ll help you make a more informed decision.

Get to know men on an intimate level by knowing what they will do at any point in the relationship!

Gas tax shortchanging must end

Members of the Metropolitan Planning Organization have righteousness on their side in protesting the imbalance of federal gas tax funds allocated to Manatee and Sarasota counties.

The MPO, a coalition of elected officials representing various agencies of local government in the two counties, speaks for all bi-county residents in complaining to the Florida Department of Transportation about being “gas tax losers” when the Florida Department of Transportation divvies up its share of federal gas taxes.

It’s bad enough that Florida itself is a gas tax loser in comparison with the other 49 states’ share of the 18.4 cents-a-gallon federal tax revenue. Only about 86 cents of every dollar sent to Washington for highways and 70 cents on the dollar for mass transit comes back to Florida. That’s a clear violation of federal law that requires each state to get back at least 90.5 cents on the dollar. It means that other states are getting more than their share, at Florida’s expense.

But what really ticks off local officials is a recent report showing that within Florida, the Manatee-Sarasota MPO for the last six years has gotten back only 53 cents of every gas tax dollar it sends to Washington. The non-profit Environmental Working Group said that is the third-lowest rate of return in Florida and 24th lowest of 256 metropolitan areas in the country. Over the six years from 1998 to 2003, Manatee-Sarasota MPO has been shortchanged out of a total of $204.4 million in road and mass transit money it should have received if funds were equitably distributed.

That’s a shocking shortfall for an area that is growing as fast as this one is. It leaves the area years behind where it should be in meeting highway and bridge needs.

Making matters even worse is the fact that FDOT can’t say precisely how much federal gas tax money is collected in Manatee and Sarasota counties and how the distribution formula works. “This is not an easy process to understand,” was the lame excuse of Rick Langley, secretary of the Bartow FDOT district to which the bi-county area is assigned.

That’s not good enough. FDOT should examine the Environmental Working Group’s full report, which blamed an outdated mindset within state transportation agencies that favors rural areas over urban ones. It cited “an outmoded legacy of a bygone era” of interstate construction that “is perpetuated by the entrenched political preference of many state ‘transportation’ departments to remain ‘highway departments’ attuned to the priorities of state legislatures that are dominated by rural interests.”

The message couldn’t be clearer. Our representatives in Congress and the state Legislature must fight harder to win a fair share of federal transportation dollars for the Manatee-Sarasota area. And citizens must become proactive in demanding equity from the bureaucrats who control the highway trust money. It is totally unacceptable for local residents to see almost half their gas tax dollars go somewhere else. That means more of their local taxes are needed to keep up with road construction needs – or else those needs go unmet.

The latter, unfortunately, is all too often the consequence of being a gas tax loser.

Best Way to Lose Weight

The best way to lose weight, I believe, is to count calories, increase consumption of fruits and vegetables, limit saturated fats and of best way to lose weight course incorporate an effective workout routine. Combined with regular physical activity, calorie counting is quite effective for anyone hoping to lose some or a lot of weight.

As a health professional, I do NOT believe in diets because most of them require that you cut out an entire food group or limit yourself certain foods which we all know doesn’t work, at least in the long term.

Eliminating an entire food groups is not the best way to lose weight because what often happens when we eliminate foods we love? That’s right! They begin to be the only thing that you can think about. Sure, you will quickly drop a few pounds, most of which is water weight, but you will find that it will quickly come back once again when you resume normal eating behaviors.

For instance, remember the last time you tried a low-carb diet (if you have) and the only thing you could think about was a huge baked potato or a bag of potato chips? Or better yet, tried to eliminate sugar from your diet which makes you constantly crave something sweet and it won’t go away until you cave into your desire.

Most of us take our weight too seriously and only focus on what the scale says. If you are wanting to lose weight, that is great but I highly recommend that you first take measurements including body fat, BMI, waist, hip, and chest circumferences in addition to your body weight. If you are comfortable with taking your before and after pictures I also think that is a great idea. You don’t have to share them with anyone but will help keep you motivated. This way if you don’t see the scale budging, you can re-measure yourself and see if you are losing inches rather than weight.

Another tip for the best way to lose weight and lose it fast is to incorporate a strength or weight training program into your fitness routine. Females, here is a great program by Beachbody called ChaLENE Extreme that has help women lose weight fast! Ladies-don’t be afraid of weight training programs because building lean muscle mass will increase your metabolism and burn fat much faster than strictly an aerobics program by itself. To help keep you from getting calorie amnesia, I strong encourage you to keep a food journal of the foods that you consume, including beverages as they are often forgotten about. Below are some food journals I highly recommend you look into as I have used most of them and think they are a valuable resource.

Train Your Lower Back to Jump Higher

When working out to increase your vertical jump it is imperative that you are including all of the necessary muscles in your workout. One major muscle that helps you jump higher and is often overlooked, is the lower back.

Most people wouldn’t think that training your lower back can help you jump higher, so here’s the explanation. When a jump is performed, you want to do your best to transfer your momentum upwards. When you start out right before you jump, your top half is bent over, and your lower back is the source of your upper torso’s momentum in a jump.

Increase Your Jumping Ability: Depth Jumps

Increase your jumping ability with depth jumps. A depth jump is when you jump off of a box at a certain height, absorb the shock, and then jump back up as high as you can in the air.

This is an important exercise to managing your force transfer. The ability to transfer your force is imperative when jumping, because it is needed to project your body upwards more effectively. This exercise will also improve your plyometric ability.

There are many different exercises to increase vertical jump that are similar to this one in The Jump Manual, so you might want to check it out.

Alternate medicine massage therapy

Massage is one of the simplest forms of therapy. It involves stroking, pressing and rubbing different parts of the body to relax, stimulate and reduce pain of the body. Massage does create a pleasant sensation to the skin. That apart, it acts on the soft tissues, namely the ligaments, muscles and tendons. It normally affects the muscles just under the skin; its advantages may also reach the deeper layers of muscle and even the organs.

Massage helps the lymphatic system, running parallel to the circulatory system, in discharging the waste from the body.

Massage therapy assists in bringing oxygen and other nutrients to body tissues. This results in proper blood circulation.

It removes muscular pain and stiffness in joints. As a result, flexibility and mobility increase.

Effects Of Massage:
A single massage will be good, no doubt. But to have real benefits, a course of more massages will be ideal. Regular massage can ensure shaping and strengthening the whole body system. Another advantage is that probable stress and strain of future can be prevented. Massage can excite or cool the nervous system based on the individual, thereby easing fatigue and developing extra energy. In short, massage boosts the individual physically, mentally and spiritually.

Who require Massage Therapy?

Massage therapy is recommended for those who require relaxation of mind and body. In addition it can cure muscular pain, back pain, arthritis, headache, migraine and so on. Blood circulation and respiratory systems can also be made to function normally with massage. Massage therapy relieves stress. It helps to lower the levels of hormones such as Cortisol and thereby body’s stress response. Massage therapy also augments immune function.

Typical Massage Therapy Session:

Depending upon the type of massage, a session may last for about an hour or more. Your life style, health history etc will be reviewed at the outset. With bare minimum cloth on, you will have to lie face down under a sheet on a massage table. The therapist will then ensure that you are comfortable and properly positioned by adjusting the face rest and pillows. The therapist begins the massage on the skin with dilute oil. A full body massages starts at the back, moving down to feet. Then you have to turn over. Now it is the turn of neck, arms, abdomen and legs to get the massage. Slowly get up. If you try to get up fast, you may feel giddiness.

During massage there is chance for pain when pressure is applied on the areas of muscle tension. Then let the therapist know it. In any case massage will never hurt. After the massage some will have body pin for the day, but most feel happy and relaxed.

There are those who must avoid massage:

People with skin infection, rash or wounds.

Those who have just undergone chemotherapy, radiation or surgery.

Pregnant women.

People with heart diseases and those prone to blood clots.

Please bear in mind that massaging over fractures bruises, wounds, tumors, abdominal hernia etc. are not advisable.

Massage Tips:

Avoid heavy meal just before the massage.
Arrive 10 minutes early to the massage centre so that you can take some  rest before starting the session.

Fruits and vegetables available now can help get eating on track

By: Suzanne Havala Hobbs

Most people think of the New Year as the best time to clean up their diets. But I know of an even better time.

Why? Because the foods that will best help you meet your diet goals are in greatest abundance from now through early October.

Starting now, begin a big push to add considerable quantities of fresh fruits and vegetables to your meals and snacks. They’re low in calories, high in nutrients, and they push low-fiber, higher-calorie foods out of your diet.

Here’s your three-pronged strategy:

• First, you’ve got to have the ingredients on hand.

Make regular stops at farmers’ markets and roadside produce stands. Buy locally grown fruits and vegetables when you can.

• Then, make it easy to use them.

A good way to ensure fresh foods don’t go bad is to set aside time to pre-prepare. Choose a time when you are relaxed and can spend half an hour or so washing, peeling and chopping. Put on some music, or park a friend or family member nearby and gab. But do it. Store pre-prepared veggies in plastic bags and airtight containers in the refrigerator so you have them on hand, ready to use, when you are in a hurry or don’t want to fuss.

• Now, incorporate those ingredients into every meal:

Use them in entrees. Toss wilted greens or chopped broccoli, mushrooms, carrots and onions with cooked pasta and olive oil — and fresh herbs – to make pasta primavera. Chop and grate fresh vegetables such as lettuce, carrots, green peppers, and cucumbers and use them to fill pita pockets. Add a scoop of hummus or a sprinkling of reduced-fat grated cheese and vinaigrette salad dressing.

Add them to salads. Slice strawberries in half and toss them with broken walnuts, baby spinach leaves and poppy seed dressing. Slices of papaya, mango and avocado are also good with salad greens.

Garnish with them. Sliced bell peppers, parsley, grated carrot, daikon radish, tomato slices, purple cabbage and wedges of melon add color and flavor.

Snack on them. Set out sliced vegetables with dip — black bean, low-fat salad dressing, hummus or salsa — and they’ll disappear. Berries, pineapple and melon chunks go well with vanilla yogurt.

And plan ahead for the many times you won’t have the time or inclination to cook. Keeping cold salads on hand is an especially good idea. Not only are they more appealing in hot weather, but many salads can be served as a one-plate meal.

Just as you pre-prepare fruits and vegetables for other uses, plan to set aside time on a regular basis to fix fresh salads, too. Use whatever you have on hand.

Some good combinations:

• Cucumber and tomato salad with diced red onion (best if eaten within two days).

• Greek salad (also best eaten within two days).

• Melon salad. Add mint from the garden.

• Green bean and boiled potato salad. Steam fresh beans. Toss with vinegar and olive oil. You can add chopped pimentos or roasted peppers.

• Vinaigrette coleslaw. Add onions and grated carrots and red cabbage. Try a variation using dill from the garden.

One of my all-time favorite salads is an endless combination of summer garden vegetables — romaine, green onions, red cabbage, carrots, radishes, tomatoes, bell peppers and cucumber — minced finely and tossed with garbanzo beans, croutons and creamy Italian dressing. It keeps in the refrigerator for several days and with a couple of pieces of Italian bread is a meal in itself.

Get into these habits through the growing season — then carry them right through the year.

Pesticide residues

The May 12 column referred to a shopper’s guide, created by the Environmental Working Group, ranking pesticide residues on fruits and vegetables. EWG identified 12 with the highest residue levels of those examined, for consumers who want to avoid even low levels of pesticide residues. For 11 of those, the group says it used USDA data based on foods that had been washed or peeled before being tested. For red raspberries, EWG says only FDA data from unwashed samples were available. Foods were ranked based on a composite score of several variables, and EWG says the net result still placed red raspberries in the top 12.
